Sometimes mistakes happen. Whether it's a simple checkbook miscalculation or you encounter an emergency, we understand.
Pearl Hawaii Federal Credit Union offers Overdraft Privilege to make sure you're covered when life has its hiccups. ODP covers overdrafts from checks, ATM withdrawals, ACH transactions (for automatic bill payments), and debit card transactions.
Why should I opt-in to ODP?
An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. When you pay with a check or debit card and you don’t have enough funds in your checking account to cover the amount of the transaction, you may be assessed a fee from not only Pearl Hawaii Federal Credit Union, but you may be assessed additional fees from the payee’s financial institution and the merchant. If you have Overdraft Privilege in place, you pay a fee only to the credit union and avoid paying additional fees to your merchant and the merchant’s financial institution... and best of all, no bounced check or declined transaction!
When you opt-in to Overdraft Privilege, we will cover your overdrafts up to your predetermined limit.
To opt-in to ODP, call us at 808-737-4328 (73-PHFCU) or visit any location.
We will charge you a fee of (up to) $30.00 each time we pay an overdraft. Although we do not charge a daily fee for an overdrawn account, we will remove this service if you are overdrawn for 30 days or more. If you are overdrawn for 45 days, your account will be closed. Please note that there is no limit on the daily fees we can charge you for overdrawing your account. You may also access Overdraft Privilege (ODP) by performing an over the counter withdrawal. If a check is returned as a NSF, other fees may be incurred from the merchant or payee’s financial institution.
